SHAPE is proud to present their 4th annual member art exhibit at the SHAPE Gallery, located in downtown Shippensburg. A beautiful collection of varied mediums will be on display at the gallery by fourteen of SHAPE’S talented artists. The member show is a great opportunity for member artists to showcase and sell their works of art. From photography, painting and multi-media, to ceramics, glass blowing and jewelry making, the member show has something for everyone.
According to Brandii Kligee, multi-media artist and former SHAPE board member, the member show is one of her favorite exhibits. “I am very excited about the artist member show, the attendance is always wonderful and the excitement level is extraordinary,” said Kligee. Kligee is an interdisciplinary multi-media artist, and has widely displayed her works in both Franklin and Cumberland counties. Kligee will showcase several pieces at the upcoming exhibit including a mono-print titled “Exploration”, a lint collage titled “Cloud Stuff”, and several oil paintings. Another important benefit of the member show is the networking between artists and also to try and reach new artists in the community.
Allison Wise, acrylic artist, will be displaying her paintings for the first time. After attending last year’s member show, Allison was excited to become a new SHAPE member. “I am very excited to be a part of the show, last year’s member show prompted me to join,” Wise said. Wise paints whatever moves her, sometimes on an emotional level and sometimes less so. One of her pieces titled “Eye of the Storm” has a very real emotional connection with Wise. It is a painting of the Nickel Mines Amish shooting. The shootings took place very close to where Wise grew up. “I am from that area and have an enormous respect for the Amish,” Wise said. Some of her other works, such as “Drive Side View-Cigarette” has a less emotional connection, sparked by a cigarette tossed out the window in front of her.
No matter what your artistic style may be, you will certainly be inspired and find a connection with the artists and their works at the SHAPE annual member exhibit. SHAPE invites the community to come and meet the many member artists and view the wonderful and diverse collection of works on display.
